ESPN’s Adam Caplan reports that the San Francisco 49ers worked out former Rams WR Austin Pettis this week.
- Aaron Wilson adds that the 49ers also brought in DT Kenneth Horsley and DL Garrison Smith for workouts.
The Rams waived Pettis a few months ago and has since worked out for the Seattle Seahawks and Carolina Panthers.
Pettis, 26, is a former 2011 third-round pick of the Rams, but has been limited to playing just 34 percent of the team’s snaps in 2014. He has appeared in five games and caught 12 passes for 118 yards receiving and one touchdown while playing for the Rams this year.
