During Sunday’s huge win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneerson, Niners WR Josh Morgan suffered a fractured ankle despite being up 41-3.
Matt Barrows of the Sacramento Bee reports that Morgan will undergo surgery today to repair his fractured ankle. San Francisco will have to decide whether or not to place on him season-ending injured reserve following the procedure.
San Francisco is already thin at receiver with Braylon Edwards out but the loss of Morgan could force them to look at some available options on the open market. I wouldn’t expect them to consider either one of Terrell Owens or Randy Moss despite their need at receiver.
