AFC East Notes: Bills, Dolphins, Jets, Patriots

Bills

  • Sal Capaccio mentions that if the Seahawks only use a low-round restricted tender on OT George Fant, he thinks the Bills should make an attempt to sign him to an offer sheet.

Dolphins

  • Jason La Canfora says that Dolphins RT Ja’Wuan James is “going to kill it on the open market” this offseason, considering the desperate need for offensive tackles across the league.
  • La Canfora expects the Dolphins to allow James to walk as they focus on rebuilding and try to sign LT Larmey Tunsil to a long-term extension.

Jets

  • According to Mike Leslie, Jets DE Charles Tapper was involved in a car accident, but this isn’t believed to be a major concern.
  • Tapper was reportedly driving Cowboys DL Maliek Collins‘ can when the accident occurred. However, Collins wasn’t not in the vehicle.

Patriots

  • Chris Simms of NBC Sports reports the Patriots were the team “most aggressively pursuing” Giants WR Odell Beckham ahead of last season’s trade deadline.
  • Simms says Beckham was “really close” to being traded. However, the Giants apparently pumped the breaks on a potential deal because the Patriots were the most aggressive team in terms of acquiring him.
  • Mike Reiss of ESPN predicts the Patriots will not franchise K Stephen Gostkowski this offseason and will instead sign him to an extension.
