AFC East Notes: Bills, Jets, Patriots

Bills

• The Buffalo Bills announced Monday that they’ve hired former NFL TE Keith Jennings as their new BLESTO college scout, replacing Marcus Cooper who departed for a job with the Giants.

Jets

• Rich Cimini of ESPN notes that Josh McCown took 48 reps (all first team), Teddy Bridgewater took 36 (all second team) and rookie Sam Darnold took 70 (including 17 with the first team) during OTAs.
• Regarding Darnold, Cimini mentions that he made progress in the last three weeks and could definitely be in the conversation for the starting job if he continues to trend positively.
• At outside linebacker, Cimini seems to think the Jets will take a “committee” approach, with Josh Martin, Jordan Jenkins, Lorenzo Mauldin, David Bass, Brandon Copeland and Dylan Donahue competing for spots in the rotation.
• According to Cimini, WR Chad Hansen was “arguably the most improved player on the team” during OTAs.

Patriots

• Ian Rapoport reports that Tom Brady and Rob Gronkowski are not slated to be part of the final few OTAs this week.
• However, Rapoport adds that both Brady and Gronkowski will be in attendance for training camp in late July.
