AFC East Notes: Dolphins, Jets, Patriots

Dolphins

New Dolphins WR Albert Wilson says he’s been learning a lot from Kenny Stills and Danny Amendola since arriving in Miami.

“Kenny does a great job of letting us know what coach is looking for,” said Wilson, via the Palm Beach Post. “He’s been around it and had a lot of success here. He’s a great leader and Danny, he’s coming over and has played a ton of football. To have him on our side and to pick his brain and see how he works, it’s a great thing for us.”

Jets

Jets LB Darron Lee says he’s setting some high goals for the 2018 season, which includes making the Pro Bowl and being an All-Pro selection.

“Absolutely trying to make the Pro Bowl, and have a hell of a year, be All-Pro,” Lee tells Darryl Slater of NJ.com. “I’m not trying to be just some regular linebacker here. I’m trying to be the best, one of the best. That’s why I’m here.”

While his pass coverage improved last year, Lee is focused on getting more interceptions.

“I’ve got to get some picks,” Lee said. “That’s going to be my main focus this year. I definitely had a way better second year. I think I’ve used those first two years to just absorb what I could do better. Now, I can really, really hone in.

Patriots

49ers DE Cassius Marsh said that his time with the Patriots went so poorly that he considered walking away from the NFL.

They don’t have fun there. There’s nothing fun about it. There’s nothing happy about it. I didn’t enjoy any of my time there, you know what I’m saying?” Marsh told the San Francisco Chronicle. “It made me for the first time in my life think about not playing football because I hated it that much.”

According to Marsh, the Patriots asked him to do a number of things he wasn’t used to as a pass rusher for the Seahawks.

“They asked me to do a bunch of stuff that I had never done: covering running backs and receivers and basically almost never rushing the passer, which is what I did in playing defensive line,” Marsh said.

The Patriots traded two draft picks to get Marsh from the Seahawks only to cut him loose after nine games.

“I confronted (Belichick) about all the things that were going on,” Marsh said. “I won’t get into detail, but it was B.S. things they were doing. I just wasn’t a fan. And so I, basically, without asking to get cut, I kind of asked to get cut. … I had confidence that I would have an opportunity elsewhere and I would take advantage of it.
