AFC Notes: Bengals, Bills, Browns, Chargers

Bengals

Browns HC Hue Jackson was asked about Marvin Lewis reportedly planning to leave the Bengals after this season and whether he may have interest in the job.

“I’ve kind of known about Marvin,” Jackson said, via Cleveland.com. “Obviously, we all know that Marvin is a close friend, but trust me, I’m not running from this. I’ve never gone any place and left it worse than when I found it. I’m going to be here, and I need to get this fixed as fast as I can because it’s important.”

Bills

  • Bills WR Kelvin Benjamin confirmed following Sunday’s game that he will undergo surgery after the season to repair his torn meniscus. (Matthew Fairburn)
  • Benjamin plans to play through the injury for the remainder of the 2017 season.

Browns

According to Browns HC Hue Jackson, it’s a fair question whether rookie QB DeShone Kizer “will ever get it.”

“He has some work to do,” Jackson said, via Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer. “I think that’s a fair question if he’ll ever get it. I think he will, but he has to keep working.

Jackson appears to be at least open to possibly changing quarterbacks before the year is out.

“I think he can [make it to the finish line],” Jackson said. “Obviously, I’m going to watch the tape and make the best decision for our football team because we’re still trying to win. We’re not here just trying to get through the season. I don’t look at it like that, and I’m not going to let our players look at it like that. We’re trying to win. If the best decision is to move forward in a different direction, we will. At the same time, I want him to finish this if he can. We’ll see.”

Chargers

  • According to Ian Rapoport, Chargers DL Corey Liuget suffered a grade 2 PCL sprain and is considered week-to-week. Rapoport adds that Liuget could be done for the season, considering there are just two weeks left in the regular season.
  • As for LB Denzel Perryman, Rapoport reports that he’s considered week-to-week with a hamstring tendon strain. However, like Liuget, it’s possible this could be the end of Perryman’s season with just two games remaining.
