AFC Notes: Bills, Jets, Patriots

Bills

  • Peter Schrager, citing many “decision-makers” around the NFL, reports that Bills OC Brian Daboll has “a lot of buzz around him” as a head coaching candidate this offseason.
  • Bills WR Stefon Diggs avoided a serious foot injury and his availability isn’t expected to be in doubt going forward. (Kim Jones)

Jets

  • Following the Jets surprising win over the Rams, the odds for the No. 1 overall pick in 2021 are: 1) Jaguars 71%, 2) Jets 29%, 3) Bengals <1% (Seth Walder)
  • Jets HC Adam Gase told reporters after Sunday’s game that DL Quinnen Williams is in the concussion protocol. (Brian Costello)

Patriots

  • Patriots QB Cam Newton was asked if he expects to start the last two games: “I don’t know man. Listen, I’m gonna keep doing what I’m asked to do. And for me, I’ve got to keep getting better.” (Ben Volin)
  • Ian Rapoport reports that Patriots CB Stephon Gilmore actually did not suffer a knee injury and his leg injury may not be as serious as it may have looked. Gilmore is scheduled to undergo more tests on Monday.
  • However, with just two games remaining and the Patriots being eliminated from the playoffs, Rapoport says Gilmore may not return.
  • ESPN’s Mike Reiss says if the Patriots are eliminated from playoff contention this week, they could elect not to activate WR Julian Edelman from injured reserve.
