Raiders HC Jon Gruden explained what Jordy Nelson brings to their offense at the owner’s meeting last week.

โ€œHe can still run,โ€ Gruden said, via NBC Bay Area. โ€œHeโ€™s a guy we can put on the backside of (triple receiver formations). He can win at the line of scrimmage against press coverage. Heโ€™s good after the catch.

โ€œHe brings a lot of โ€˜itโ€™ factor we need. Heโ€™s unselfish. Heโ€™ll block. Heโ€™s excellent at uncovering in scramble drills. His work ethic and consistency is something that will benefit our football team. Heโ€™s one of the free agents who will play a huge role for us.โ€

As for moving on from Michael Crabtree, Gruden said a change of scenery could prove to be beneficial for both parties.

โ€œโ€™Crabโ€™ was a good player, no doubt,โ€ Gruden said. โ€œWith a lot of receivers, sometimes a change of scenery is a good thing. I think Crabโ€™s in a good place. I think this is a good place for Nelson.
