AFC Notes: Broncos, Browns, Raiders

Broncos

  • Broncos QB Drew Lock said he’s not hurt, but frustrated with his play: “I am fine. But you definitely frustrated after a day like that. We have to keep pushing.” (Troy Renck)
  • Lock shoulder the blame for his play on Sunday: “This organization doesn’t pay me, this fan base doesn’t cheer us on for me to quit. They’ll have to carry me off the field for me to come off. It’s just when you play quarterback, you’re going to have bad days, have good days. You just have to limit the bad ones.” (Mike Klis)
  • Broncos HC Vic Fangio said of not replacing Lock with Brett Rypien: “We’re committed to Drew. The more he can play the better he’ll be. He’s got to fight through this like most young quarterbacks do at some point in their career. And we’re going to continue to play him.” (Mike Klis)

Browns

  • BrownsZone.com’s Scott Petrak writes that Browns QB Baker Mayfield could go a long way toward solidifying his status with the team by helping the Browns get to 10 wins and a playoff game, as well as playing decent football and limiting turnovers along the way.
  • Cleveland will have to make a decision on Mayfield’s fifth-year option this offseason, which would lock him in through the 2022 season.
  • Petrak can see the Browns going after former Vikings G Pat Elflein if he passes through waivers unclaimed given his familiarity with HC Kevin Stefanski, his offensive coordinator the past few years with the Vikings.

Raiders

  • Raiders HC Jon Gruden told reporters that X-rays were negative but RB Jalen Richard sustained a “severe chest injury.” (Vic Tafur)
  • Gruden said QB Derek Carr was banged up in the fourth quarter and was evaluated: “Derek is OK, from what I’m told.” (Paul Gutierrez)
