AFC Notes: Broncos, Chargers, Chiefs, Raiders

Broncos

  • KOA Colorado’s Benjamin Allbright says everything he’s heard indicates Broncos HC Vic Fangio will be back with the team in 2021, though there could be other changes on staff.
  • Pro Football Network’s Tony Pauline echoes Allbright’s report, saying he’s been told Fangio is safe.
  • CBS Sports analyst and former agent Joel Corry notes a second consecutive franchise tag for Broncos S Justin Simmons would be 120 percent of his previous number and come out to $13.729 million. Simmons has been angling to become the NFL’s highest-paid safety, which currently is $14.75 million a year.

Chargers

  • CBS Sports analyst and former agent Joel Corry says a second consecutive franchise tag for Chargers TE Hunter Henry could be a viable path for Los Angeles. It would cost them $12.728 million fully guaranteed for the 2021 season.
  • We have him included in our Top 50 – 2021 Free Agents list.

Chiefs

  • Pro Football Network’s Tony Pauline writes that he’s heard one of the reasons Chiefs OC Eric Bieniemy was passed over for a head coaching job this offseason is because he didn’t interview well.
  • Pauline adds this has happened with other coaches, including Dolphins HC Brian Flores who was passed over by the Cardinals in 2018 for Steve Wilks.
  • Pauline thinks the two most likely landing spots for Bieniemy this coaching cycle are either the Falcons or Texans.
