AFC Notes: Chiefs, Raiders, Ravens

Chiefs

Raiders

  • The Athletic’s Vic Tafur says the Raiders plan to add a No. 1 corner in free agency to help ease the burden on the younger players they’re developing at the position. He confirms Cowboys CB Byron Jones and Broncos CB Chris Harris are two of the top targets.
  • Tafur adds some other options Las Vegas could explore include Titans CB Logan Ryan, Panthers CB James Bradberry, Vikings CB Trae Waynes and former Redskins CB Josh Norman.
  • Tafur mentions he expects the Raiders to release QB DeShone Kizer and LB Tahir Whitehead in the coming weeks to clear salary.
  • Another free-agent target the Raiders are expected to have interest in if available is Bengals LB Nick Vigil, who played under Raiders DC Paul Guenther when the two were in Cincinnati. (Adam Caplan)
  • Caplan confirmed Raiders WR Tyrell Williams‘ $11 million 2020 base salary became fully guaranteed on Feb. 5. Adding a receiver to stretch the field across from Williams is on the offseason shopping list.

Ravens

  • Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer lists Ravens DC Don Martindale and Ravens OC Greg Roman as some of the top head-coaching candidates for next year’s cycle.
