AFC Notes: Colts, Jaguars, Titans

Colts

Colts QB Carson Wentz feels “at home” after being traded the Colts this offseason, reports Michael Marot of the Associated Press.

I think getting to know guys is a big part of camaraderie and chemistry in the locker room and not just how you’re doing but getting to know their family, their life, their faith so we can really trust each other,” Wentz said Wednesday. “Everyone’s been awesome, super welcoming. Even after two weeks, I feel a little bit at home.”

Wentz has already begun to earn the respect of his teammates and coaches alike during the early stages of OTAs. Colts HC Frank Reich has had glowing reviews of how he’s handled the transition.

Carson’s done an excellent job both vocally and the way he works,” Reich said. “He’s not a shy guy. He’s very outspoken. But he came in with good command of the offense and the level of command he has in the huddle, I know guys feel that. Physically, you can just feel his presence on the field. He’s a dominant physical specimen for the position and you can just feel that out there.”

Jaguars

The Jaguars hired Karim Kassam as their senior vice president of football operations strategy earlier this offseason. However, Kassam quietly departed the organization last week.

An NFL executive tells Jason La Canfora that more turnover in Jacksonville is likely coming.

“There is going to be constant turnover there, trust me,” the executive said. “If you know anything about the people and the personalities involved, you can see it coming a mile away. There is going to be a constant churn.”

“Won’t be the last time someone doesn’t make it through the season there.

Titans

Titans HC Mike Vrabel said second-year RB Darrynton Evans took reps at receiver in Thursday’s individual drills and expects him to handle more roles going forward.

“Those are ideas we try to have and try to get him some cross-training work,” Vrabel said. “A lot of those players that can handle more than one particular role, then we’ll continue to add those roles to them. And I’d say Darrynton is one of those players.”

Evans said he’s open to playing wherever asked of him.

“Wherever coach Vrabel wants me to go, that’s where imma go,” Evans said.

Vrabel believes their joint practice with the Buccaneers later this offseason, Vrabel feels it is a “great opportunity” to practice against the defending champions.

“That’s a great opportunity for us to go down there and practice with the defending Super Bowl champions,” Vrabel said. “How talented they are. Great coaching staff. It will be a great experience for us to go down there and try to compete against them.”
