AFC Notes: Colts, Raiders, Texans

Colts

Raiders

Despite his suspension being lifted, Raiders free agent LB Vontaze Burfict faces as uncertain a future as he’s ever seen. His contract with the team is set to expire soon and it’s unclear if he’ll be back. While he made a strong impression on his coaches and teammates, his reputation as a dirty player caused him to be suspended for the final 12 games of 2019. He says he’s trying to adapt his game and play again in 2020, ideally for the Raiders. But another hit and Burfict won’t have the benefit of the doubt to protect him from being booted permanently.

“You can tell how the years changed and the years evolved in football from Ray Lewis to Brian Urlacher to now,” Burfict said via NFL Media’s Tom Pelissero. “You watch Luke Kuechly, Lavonte David, me โ€” it’s a totally different era, and watching how the eras have changed, you’ve got to change with it.”

“I just feel like I still have a long road ahead of me, I’m still young and a lot of things to prove,” Burfict added. “And I want to win a championship.”
