AFC Notes: Colts, Texans, Titans

Colts

Colts HC Frank Reich said DT DeForest Buckner experienced swelling and soreness of his ankle following last week’s game.

“Obviously, he had some soreness and swelling after the game so we just want to be safe and get him back on track,” via Kevin Bowen of 1075TheFan.

When asked about the play of Eagles QB Carson Wentz, who played under Reich from 2016-2017, the coach said he’s still confident his former quarterback. 

“Right now, honestly, I’m really just focused on—it’s a fair question—the quarterbacks on our roster,” said Reich. “I know, and love, Carson. He’s a close friend of mine, and I think he’s really a good player. I have a lot of belief and confidence in him personally. But, right now, I’m more focused on our guys.”

Texans

• Fox 26’s Mark Berman reports the Texans will not be interviewing head coach candidates working for other teams even though the NFL recently decided to allow it. 
• The NFL is currently not permitting teams to meet with GM candidates under contract with other teams before the season ends. 
• According to NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport, Texans QB Deshaun Watson will pay his teammates fines for violating the COVID-19 protocols at his event in addition to his $7,500 fine. 
• Texans interim HC Romeo Crennel is still bullish on second-round DL Ross Blacklock despite only playing a handful of snaps last week due to poor performance: “Ross has just scratched the surface of what he can potentially be. He flashes his ability. At some point, the light bulb will go off. Right now, going through rookie growing pains.” (Aaron Wilson)
