Colts

• New Colts WR Keenan Allen signed a one-year, $3.32 million contract that included a $1.51 million signing bonus, $1.3 million guaranteed base salary and up to $510,000 in per-game active roster bonuses. (Over The Cap)
• In his 53-man roster projection, ESPN’s Stephen Holder has RB D.J. Giddens, a fifth-round pick just last year, on the outside looking in. 
• At wide receiver, Holder thinks Coleman Owen has won a roster spot because of his ability as a returner, beating out Anthony Gould and seventh-rounder Deion Burks.
• Holder thinks Spencer Shrader will win the kicking battle against Blake Grupe, but whoever gets cut likely ends up on another roster. 

Titans

Titans HC Robert Saleh said that he would like to see more from his offense despite the preseason victory against the Seahawks.

“I thought the first drive was good, we went out there and got some points,” Saleh said, via Pro Football Talk. “Thought Cam, again, was good with the ball, good decision-making. We just couldn’t connect on a couple of deep throws, but, overall, it’s got to be better. I’m not trying to sugarcoat it. It does got to be better, but at the same time, there’s always going to be things that we can take from.”

Titans RT JC Latham is heading into year three in the NFL and year two starting on the right side instead of the left. Tennessee HC Robert Saleh believes Latham has really increased the physicality he’s played with thus far. Saleh thinks Latham is at a great playing weight, which allows for a perfect combination of speed and power.

“The one thing that he’s done that I don’t feel like we saw a year ago is the physicality at which he plays,” Saleh said, via the team’s website. “He’s at a really good weight so his foot speed is where we want it to be and we felt like he was always strong enough, but you combine the foot speed with the physicality that he is playing with and I mean he’s moving people, he’s strapping people at the line of scrimmage. The challenge for him is not to take his flowers. Right now, just stay on the grind, stay where he is, try to improve not only physically but mentally. But he’s tracking to have a really nice year, he’s just got to stay the course.”

“I think it’s always in there. When we evaluated him coming out of college, we felt like he was a big, strong, athletic, physical human being, but it’s all encompassing. He’s always been massive, and that’s what we’ve talked about with JC when we got here. … He’s got elite work ethic. He’s just got to be very conscientious (about his size). He can get as big as he wants to get, it’s just going to affect his foot speed. So there’s a balance of understanding that he’s already plenty strong enough. How much can he work to keep his weight at a spot where he doesn’t lose his strength, but he gains a bunch of speed? You don’t want him to go down too much where he gains whole bunch of speed and loses power. So right now he’s at a sweet spot and he’s just got to be able to maintain that.”
