AFC Notes: LeSean McCoy, Bills, Ravens

LeSean McCoy

Bills GM Brandon Beane made it clear that they still believe RB LeSean McCoy can still be an impact player or he wouldnโ€™t be on their roster.

โ€œI think LeSean still can play. If not, we would have made the decision to move on. I think heโ€™s embraced the competition this spring,โ€ Beane said, via NewYorkUpstate.com. โ€œHeโ€™s very confident, when you talk to him, that he still sees himself up here. And I donโ€™t think youโ€™re changing that. And I wouldnโ€™t want him to think any different. But weโ€™re focused on this year. Thatโ€™s what we have him under contract for, and I definitely think heโ€™s got enough left in the tank to help us in 2019.โ€

Regarding the running back position, Beane said he doesnโ€™t โ€œknow how itโ€™s going to shake outโ€ between McCoyFrank GoreT.J. Yeldon and Devin Singletary.

Bills

Leading up to this yearโ€™s draft, there were a lot of rumors about the Bills possibly trading up into the top five of this yearโ€™s draft.

Bills GM Brandon Beane confirms that they spoke to the Jets about moving up to No. 3 overall, but the talk was โ€œdefinitely overblown.โ€

โ€œI talked to pretty much every team between two and three days leading up to the draft,โ€ Beane said, via WGR 550. โ€œSo I think sometimes people are looking for anybody to move up. Yes, they called us a couple times and we had conversations. I assume like anything, if youโ€™re really trying to move out youโ€™re trying to drum up business, thatโ€™s the fairest way to put it.

โ€œWe thought it was a deep draft so it wasnโ€™t something where I was thinking, โ€˜man, weโ€™re really going to move up in this thing.โ€™ But if somebody offers you something that you think is an unbelievable value for the player youโ€™re getting, you have to look at it. But I donโ€™t think it was something that was close to happening.โ€
