Ravens

Ravens HC John Harbaugh said the team’s injury situation isn’t what they hoped for but they aren’t making excuses because of it.

It’s not ideal that we have all these guys out because of these injuries. It’s not ideal,” Harbaugh said, via Jamison Hensley of ESPN. “We’re not making excuses for that. We trust the guys that are going in there to play well, and our guys are going to go play their hearts out.

Harbaugh didn’t rule out adding a running back when asked if the team would explore doing so.

I think all of that is up in the air right now. We’ll just see where we’re at. We’re early. It’s Monday. Guys get evaluated on Monday,” Harbaugh added.

Steelers

Steelers OC Matt Canada had come under a lot of fire after Pittsburgh’s offensive struggles in the first two games of the season — a continuation of the team’s general offensive mediocrity over Canada’s first two seasons. But he calmed the noise down with a good game against the Raiders on Sunday night. Canada’s play-calling was a positive factor in both a key third-quarter drive that resulted in a touchdown to take a 23-7 lead and on the game-icing third-down conversion in the fourth quarter.

“You saw a lot of different things in that drive,” Steelers QB Kenny Pickett said via the Athletic’s Mark Kaboly. “A play-action strike to (Pickens), Pat over the middle, Pat off the bootleg. Some scramble stuff. … There was a lot of different things on the drive that were really positive.”

“It was a huddle call and a play that we had a lot of confidence in,” Steelers WR Allen Robinson said about the key conversion play. “We have a lot of repetition in practice with that play. Getting the first down was our main objective. At that point of the game, you pretty much know how they are playing certain formations and seeing what they are giving us. It was an easy completion on third down.”

  • Multiple Steelers sources refuted a report that Canada was going to be spending more personal time with Pickett going forward and said nothing will change about Canada’s day-to-day responsibilities, per Kaboly.
