AFC South Notes: Jaguars, Texans, Titans

Jaguars

  • Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk, citing a league source, reports that while Jaguars DE Yannick Ngakoue showed up for the first few days of voluntary workouts, he later left and has been absent since then.
  • Ngakoue has clearly outplayed his rookie contract and is in line for a larger deal in 2020.
  • Phillip Heilman mentions that one possibility in regards to the Jaguars signing Ngakoue to an extension would be for the team to trade LB Telvin Smith, who has been rumored to be a potential trade candidate.

Texans

  • Aaron Wilson reports that the Texans gave undrafted RB Demarea Crockett a $35,000 base salary guarantee and a $10,000 signing bonus.
  • According to Wilson, the Texans signed undrafted WR Tyron Johnson to a contract that includes a $30,000 base salary guarantee and a $5,000 signing bonus.
  • Texans signed S Jahleel Addae. (NFLTR) bit.ly/2Leu8Zr

Titans

  • Albert Breer’s sense regarding the Titans’ decision to decline RT Jack Conklin‘s fifth-year option isn’t about the team’s feelings for the player and is more related to his injury history.
  • Beyond that, the offensive line option number for top 10 picks this year is $12.53 million.
  • Breer adds that he doesn’t think this move means Conklin won’t be back with the Titans, but it sets him up to bet on himself in 2019 before hitting the open market next year.
