AFC South Notes: Jaguars, Texans, Titans

Jaguars

Jaguars RB Leonard Fournette said Friday that he used this offseason to essentially re-boot himself and start over.

Fournette mentioned that he made some mistakes, but doesn’t feel like he needs to prove the Jaguars can rely on him because “everybody has a bad year.”

“It’s a new year,” Fournette said, per Michael DiRocco. “We have a new team. We’re focused and we have new players. It’s a new year for us. So it’s a new everything. It’s a clean start for a lot of us guys. We’re not focused on the past. The past’s the past. Some things I did, whether it was offseason and I admitted to, yeah I was wrong. We moved on. We’re in a good place right now.”

  • According to Joel Corry, Jaguars first-round DE Josh Allen’s guarantees in his rookie contract don’t have offsets.
  • Jacksonville is one just two teams that are willing to not include offsets in their contracts for first-round picks, which means they can double-dip if they’re released and signed with another team.

Texans

  • Texans signed RB/KR Taiwan Jones to a one-year, $1.02 million deal that includes a $930,000 base salary, a $45,000 signing bonus, and a $45,000 roster bonus. (Aaron Wilson)

Titans

Titans’ second-round WR A.J. Brown said he’s doing everything he can to learn from Corey Davis during and after practice.

You’ve got to pay the cost to be the boss. So I’m out here with Corey – that’s the guy,” Brown said, via Erik Bacharach of the Tennessean. “Like I said, me learning everything I can, me getting these extra reps after practice are going to roll onto the field when we practice.
