“All Signs” Point To Raiders Releasing OLB Kamerion Wimbley

Aaron Wilson of Scout.com reports that it’s been “several days” since the Raiders have met with OLB Kamerion Wimbley and “all signs” suggest that the Raiders will be releasing him in the coming days.

No real surprise here as this coincides with numerous reports. Wimbley’s current contract guarantees him $4.5 million for 2012, $11 million salary for 2013 and another $2 million in 2014. Oakland will still have to pay him $6.5 million upon releasing him but it would prevent more issues in the coming years. Obviously, you never want to cut your best pass rusher lose but it’s rare for a team to in the kind of financial trouble.

The Chargers and Bears are reported to have interest in Wimbley if/when he becomes available.
