Bears Interested In Retaining Veteran C Roberto Garza

Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune mentions that impending free agent C Roberto Garza is “hopeful” that he and the Bears will be able to reach an agreement that will keep him in Chicago next season.

Biggs adds that Bears GM Phil Emery has said that they would like to retain Garza.

Garza, 34, has played the last nine seasons for the Bears after coming over from the Falcons. During his time with Chicago, Garza has only missed two games and been one of the few serviceable offensive linemen they’ve had in recent years.

According to Pro Football Focus, Garza was the No. 12 best center in the league last season and was particularly effective as a pass-protector.
