According to Tom Pelissero, the Bears are waiving DE Jonathan Harris on Tuesday.
Pelissoro reports the move is to make space for DE Brent Urban and Chicago hopes to re-sign Harris to the practice squad if he clears waivers.
Harris, 23, signed on with the Bears as an undrafted free agent out of Lindenwood back in May. He was among Chicago’s final roster cuts coming out of the preseason and signed to their practice squad after passing through waivers unclaimed.
Harris was promoted to the active roster a few weeks ago.
During his four-year college career at Lindenwood, Harris appeared in 43 games and recorded 183 total tackles, 38.5 tackles for loss, 22 sacks, four forced fumbles, one interception, and one fumble recovery.
