Bengals First-Round OL Jonah Williams Likely To Miss Season Following Shoulder Surgery

The Bengals announced that first-round OT Jonah Williams will likely miss the 2019 season following shoulder surgery.

Williams had the surgery Tuesday to repair a torn labrum in his left shoulder. He was injured sometime during the week before minicamp in early June.

“We look forward to Jonah being a major contributor in the future, and know that he won’t let this injury deter him from still being an important part of this team,” said head coach Zac Taylor in a news release. “We’re confident in our offensive line personnel as we head into training camp, and we believe they can do their part in helping this team achieve its goals.”

With the injury, it’s likely that the Bengals move Cordy Glenn back to left tackle, according to Paul Dehner Jr. Glenn was slated to play left guard while Williams took over at left tackle.

Williams, 21, was selected by the Bengals with the No. 11 overall and was considered one of the best offensive tackles in the 2019 NFL Draft.

According to OverTheCap.com, Williams received a four-year, $17,630,162 rookie contract that includes $10,841,936 signing bonus.

During his three-year college career, Williams appeared in 44 games for Alabama and was an All-American selection in 2018.
