The Bengals announced they have placed WR A.J. Green on injured reserve, per Geoff Hobson.
Cincinnati also claimed LB Sharif Finch off of waivers from the Titans.
This move was expected after Green’s comments last week and officially ends Green’s 2019 season. The 31-year-old veteran was never able to recover from a training camp ankle injury despite spending the season rehabbing.
Green how heads into an offseason of uncertainty as 2019 was the last year of his deal. Cincinnati is expected to use the franchise tag on Green at some point.
Green, 31, is a former first-round pick of the Bengals back in 2011. He’s entering the final year of his five-year, $70.176 million contract that included $26.75 million guaranteed and set to make a base salary $11.97 million in 2019.
Green also landed on injured reserve last season after undergoing surgery for torn ligaments in his toe.
In 2018, Green appeared nine games for the Bengals and caught 46 passes for 694 yards receiving and six touchdowns.
