Bengals Place RT Andre Smith Done On I.R. & Sign OT Jamon Meredith

The Cincinnati Bengals announced on Tuesday that they have officially placed RT Andre Smith on season-ending injured reserve.

Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reported Monday night that Smith was going to miss the remainder of the season with a tear in the tricep/bicep area, so this news shouldn’t come as much of a surprise.

Smith, 27, is in the second year of his three-year, $18 million contract that included $5 million guaranteed. He still has a base salary of $4.6 million to go along with $1 million in per-game roster bonuses coming his way in 2015.

Pro Football Focus has Smith rated as the No. 44 offensive tackle out of 76 qualifying players.

Meredith, 28, is a former fifth-round pick of the Packers back in 2009. He appeared in four games while playing for the Indianapolis Colts this season.

Meredith was most recently with the Packers, but was placed on waivers a little over a week ago.
