Bengals HC Zac Taylor announced Friday that they’re placing CB Dre Kirkpatrick on injured reserve, per Ben Baby.
The Bengals are also promoting LB Hardy Nickerson and WR Damion Willis to their active roster.
Kirkpatrick, 30, is a former first-round pick of the Bengals back in 2012. He played out his four-year, $8.622 million rookie contract before agreeing to a five-year, $52.5 million deal with $12 million guaranteed back in 2017.
Kirkpatrick stands to make a base salary of $9.4 million for the 2020 season.
In 2019, Kirkpatrick appeared in six games and recorded 33 tackles, one sack, a fumble recovery and four pass defenses.
Nickerson, 25, wound up signing on with the Bengals as an undrafted free agent out of Illinois back in 2017. He was waived a few weeks into his rookie season and later signed to the Bengals’ practice squad.
Since then, Nickerson has been on and off of the Bengals’ active roster.
In 2018, Nickerson appeared in all 16 games for the Bengals and recorded 56 tackles, no sacks or interceptions, a forced fumble and a pass defense.
