Bengals Sign S Maurice Smith, Waive K Tristian Vizcaino

The Cincinnati Bengals announced Wednesday that they’ve signed S Maurice Smith and waived K Tristian Vizcaino.

Smith, 25, wound up signing on with the Dolphins as an undrafted free agent out of Georgia back in 2017. He managed to make the Dolphins’ 53-man roster coming out of the preseason in 2018, but was among the team’s final roster cuts.

The Dolphins later signed Smith to their practice squad after he cleared waivers. He was on and off of their Dolphins’ active roster before Washington signed him to the practice squad last year.

Smith was waived a few weeks ago.

In 2018, Smith appeared in seven games for the Dolphins and recorded five tackles and one pass defense.

Vizcaino, 23, wound up going undrafted out of Washington back in 2018. He did not sign on with an NFL team during the 2018 season, but later joined the Bengals on a futures contract last January.

Cincinnati waived Vizcaino coming out of the preseason and he later signed another futures contract, this time with the Cowboys. Unfortunately, he was waived leading up to this year’s draft.

The Bengals brought Vizcaino back a few weeks ago.

During his four-year college career, Vizcaino converted 12 of 20 field goal attempts (60 percent) and 49 of 52 extra point tries (94.2) over the course of 37 games. He also totaled 2,273 punt yards on 56 attempts (40.6 YPA).
