The Cincinnati Bengals announced Wednesday that they’veย signed TE Matt Lengel off of the Texans’ practice squad.
The Bengals needed some depth at the position after they lost Tyler Eifert for the season. Cincinnati actually worked out three tight ends on Tuesday, but it appears as though they preferred to go with Lengel.
Lengel, 27, originally signed on with the Bengals as an undrafted free agent out of Eastern Kentucky back in 2015. He spent over a year in Cincinnati before signing on to the Patriots’ practice squad during the 2016 season.
Lengel has a brief stint with the Browns before he was waived and later claimed by the Texans. Unfortunately, Houston cut him loose coming out of the preseason and he was later signed to their practice squad.
In 2016, Lengel appeared in six games for the Patriots and caught two passes for 22 yards receiving and one touchdown.
