Bengals Signing CB Trae Waynes To Three-Year, $42M Deal

Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that the Bengals are signing former Vikings CB Trae Waynes

According to Rapoport, Waynes signs a three-year, $42 million deal that will pay him $20 million in the first year and averages $14 million over the course of the deal.

Cincinnati just lost Darqueze Dennard to the Jaguars, but wasted little time in replacing him.

Waynes, 27, is a former first-round pick out of Michigan State by the Vikings in the 2015 NFL Draft. He was entering the final year of his four-year, $12.944 million rookie contract when the Vikings picked up his fifth-year option last year.

Waynes made a base salary of $9,069,000 for the 2019 season under his fifth-year option and was testing the open market as an unrestricted free agent for the first time in his NFL career.

In 2019, Waynes appeared in 14 games for the Vikings and recorded 58 tackles, one interception, two forced fumbles, a recovery and eight pass defenses.

We had him included in our Top 100 Available 2020 Free Agents list.
