Bernard Scott Reaches An Agreement With The Bengals

Mike Garafolo reports that the agent for RB Bernard Scott has informed him that his client has agreed to terms with the Bengals on a one-year deal.

Scott recently visited with the Raiders before they ultimately signed Rashad Jennings to a contract.

Cincinnati has made it pretty clear that they’re looking for another running back to compliment BenJarvus Green-Ellis, but many expected them to target someone in the upcoming draft. This, of course, is still a possibility, as they’ve only committed to Scott for a single season and he’s dealt with a number of injuries in recent years.

Free agent running back Bernard Scott is visiting with the Raiders Wednesday and is also expected to meet with the Bengals later this week, according to Mike Garafolo of the USA Today.

Scott is expected to participate in drills that are designed to show reveal how his surgically repaired knee is progressing.

With the loss of Mike Goodson to the Jets via free agency this offseason, the Raiders have a need for a reliable backup behind Darren McFadden, who has yet to play in all 16 games during his five seasons in NFL.

The Bengals, on the other hand, have been looking for a speed back to compliment BenJarvus Green-Ellis. Scott fits that bill, as he posted a 4.44 forty time at the 2009 Draft Combine, but he too has dealt with his share of injuries.
