Bills Giving QB Tyrod Taylor The Start In Second Preseason Game

Bills HC Rex Ryan announced following Friday’s preseason opener that Tyrod Taylor will start their second preseason game and take most of their first-team reps next week, per Chris Brown.

Ryan wouldn’t say who would get the start in the Bills’ third preseason game, so it could come down who looks better between him and Matt Cassel next week.

Overall, the Bills have to feel good about the play for their quarterbacks, given that reports out of training camp have said that the group has been fairly underwhelming.

Taylor completed 5-of-8 passes for 49 yards to go along with six rushes for 47 yards while working with the second-team offense.

For what it’s worth, Cassel finished the game completing 7 of 8 passes for 45 yards passing.

Former first-round pick EJ Manuel didn’t see game action until the second half, but he wound up tossing Buffalo’s only touchdown to pass, which was a 51-yard strike to WR Deonte Thompson. Manuel finished the game 4-of-8 passing for 77 yards.
