Adam Schefter reports that the Bills are signing veteran DE Jerry Hughes to a two-year extension worth up to $23 million and includes $19.5 million guaranteed.
Hughes came up as a potential trade candidate last year, but the Bills elected to hold on to him and it appears as though they envision him remaining in Buffalo for the foreseeable future.
Hughes, 30, is a former first-round pick of the Colts back in 2010. He spent three years in Indianapolis before he was traded to the Bills in 2013 for Kelvin Sheppard.
Hughes was entering the final year of his five-year, $45 million contract that included $22.15 million guaranteed and was set to make a base salary of $6.35 million in 2019.
In 2018, Hughes appeared in all 16 games for the Bills and recorded 37 tackles, seven sacks, three forced fumbles and a pass defense.
