Bills Starting Derek Anderson At QB In Week 7

Bills HC Sean McDermott announced Wednesday that they’re starting Derek Anderson at quarterback for Week 7’s game against the Colts.

Bills rookie QB Josh Allen is sidelined with an elbow injury and is considered “week to week,” according to McDermott.

McDermott did, however, confirm that Allen is expected to play again this season, but declined to get into the odds of that happening.

Anderson, 35, is a former sixth-round pick of the Ravens back in 2005. He lasted just a few months in Baltimore before he was claimed off of waivers by the Browns.

Anderson spent five years with the Browns before joining the Cardinals in 2010. Anderson has since spent the past seven years as the Panthers’ backup to Cam Newton. The Bills signed him to a contract last week.

In 2017, Anderson appeared in three games and completed 2 of 8 pass attempts for 17 yards and no touchdowns or interceptions.
