Bengals Sign DE Carlos Dunlap To Three-Year, $45M Extension

Adam Schefter reports that the Bengals and DE Carlos Dunlap have agreed to a three-year, $45 million contract extension on Tuesday.

This comes just minutes after the news that the Bengals have signed DT Geno Atkins to a four-year extension, which means Cincinnati has now locked up their two most notable contract-year players before Week 1.

Reports from this summer mentioned that the Bengals and Dunlap’s representatives have been in negotiations, so this doesn’t come as a big surprise.

Dunlap, 28, is a former second-round pick of the Bengals back in 2010. He’s currently in the final year of his five-year, $39.37 million contract that included $11.7 million guaranteed and was set to make a base salary of $7 million for the 2018 season.

In 2017, Dunlap appeared in all 16 games for the Bengals and recorded 45 tackles, 7.5 sacks, an interception returned for a touchdown, a forced fumble and seven pass defenses. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 23 edge rusher out of 106 qualifying players.

We had him featured in our Top 25 – 2019 NFL Free Agents list.
