According to Adam Schefter, the Cardinals are signing S Budda Baker to a four-year, $59 million extension.
At $14.75 million per year, that makes the 24-year-old, two-time Pro Bowl Baker the NFL’s new highest-paid safety.
Ian Rapoport reports Baker will receive $33.1 million in guaranteed money on this deal. $10 million of that figure will come in a signing bonus.
Baker, 24, was drafted by the Cardinals in the second round out of Washington in 2017. He was entering the final year of his four-year, $6.829 million rookie deal and will make a base salary of $1.39 million in 2020.
In 2019, Baker appeared in all 16 games for the Cardinals and recorded 147 total tackles, 0.5 sacks, one forced fumble, one recovery, no interceptions and six pass defenses. Pro Football Focus rated Baker as the No. 27 safety out of 82 qualifying players.
