Brees & The Saints Still “Well Apart” On A New Contract

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports the New Orleans Saints and QB Drew Brees areĀ “well apart” in regards to a new contract.

This is really getting to be a problem for the Saints considering that they have five days remaining to use their franchise tag on him. Carl Nicks and Marques Colston are both set to hit the open market which you would think would add a sense of urgency to get something done but they’re still making little to no progress.

The best case scenario is for them to get a deal done in the next five days which then allow them to tag one of the before mentioned players but until Brees is under contract, they’re risking the loss of both of them. Nicks and Colston have said that they intend to seek market value deals which will make it very difficult for the team to keep either of them.

  1. The Saints (Tom Benson) need to step up and sign this man. Remember we the fans have been with you through good days and many bad days we are owed Drew Breese. So get this contract done and tag Nicks. Colston is a good reciever but he has Drew throwing to him. He may walk and get the money he wants some where else and have no success with a lower caliber quarter back. Colston the turf may not be greener in another field, and if ring number 2 is what your looking for well then stick around with the Saints.
