Broncos G Chris Kuper Retiring From The NFL

Denver Broncos G Chris Kuper announced that he has decided to retire after eight seasons in the NFL.

“The season kind of furthered my idea that this would probably be the end for me,” Kuper said on Monday, via the Denver Post. “I didn’t feel good all season. I did my best when I was out there. I just wasn’t the same player. And I think that’s a big part of my decision, not being the same player.”

Kuper, 31, has battled ankle/lower leg injuries for the past two seasons, opting for surgery twice in as many years. Before his injuries, Kuper graded as a mid-level guard, according to Pro Football Focus.

Kuper was set to make a base salary of $5 million in 2014.
