The Denver Broncos placed DE Quanterus Smithย on season-ending injured reserve on Saturday and promotedย LB Shaquil Barrett from their practice squad.
Smith had already been ruled out for the Broncos Divisional game against the Colts due to a knee injury, so this news isn’t all that surprising.
Smith, 25, still has two years remaining on hisย four-year, $2.352 million contract, which includes base salaries ofย $585,000 and $675,000 over the next two years.
This season, Smith has appeared in 15 games and recorded 11 tackles and two pass defenses for Denver’s defense. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 51 defensive end in a 4-3 system out of 59 qualifying players.
