Broncos Reached Out To Cameron Wake, But Couldn’t Come To An Agreement

Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that the Broncos reached out to free-agent pass rusher Cameron Wake, but the two sides were unable to reach an agreement on a contract.

The Broncos also contacted Clay Matthews following ankle injury to Von Miller, but they weren’t able to find middle ground on a deal.

Denver is scheduled to host Isaiah Irving for a visit and could add him to their practice squad, according to reports.

Wake, 38, wound up going undrafted out of Penn State back in 2005. He later signed on with the Giants but was released a few months later.

After two years in the CFL, the Dolphins signed him to a contract for the 2009 season. Wake played out the final year of his two-year, $19 million contract before agreeing to a three-year, $23 million contract that included $10 million guaranteed with the Titans last year.

Unfortunately, Tennesse opted to release Wake back in March.

For his career, Wake recorded 363 tackles, 101 sacks, an interception, 22 forced fumbles, two recoveries and 17 passes defended over the course of 11 seasons. He was a five-time Pro Bowler and a first-team All-Pro selection in 2021.

We have him included in our Top 100 Available 2020 Free Agents list.
