Broncos Sign WR Mekale McKay Futures Deal

The Denver Broncos officially signed WR Mekale McKay to future/reserve contract on Wednesday.

McKay becomes the 12th player to sign a futures deal with the Broncos since their season ended. The full list includes:

  3. C Dillon Day

  5. OT Justin Murray
  6. LS Jeff Overbaugh
  7. DL Travis Raciti
  8. TE Steven Scheu
  9. WR Hunter Sharp
  10. LB Kevin Synder
  11. TE Austin Traylor
  12. WR Mekale McKay

Future/reserve contracts are essentially an opportunity for players compete for a roster spot in offseason workouts and during training camp.

McKay, 23, wound up signing a three-year, $1.62 million contract with the Colts as an undrafted free agent out of Cincinnati back in May. He was cut loose coming out of the preseason before signing on to the Jaguars’ practice squad in November.

During his college career, McKay totaled 87 catches for 1,717 yards (19.7 YPR) and 17 touchdowns.
