Browns Assistant HC Pep Hamilton Accepts Michigan Job

Adam Schefter reports that Browns assistant head coach/offense Pep Hamilton has accepted a position on Jim Harbaugh’s staff at Michigan.

  • According to Schefter, Hamilton will be the Wolverines assistant head coach/passing coordinator.

Harbaugh had reportedly been telling recruits for a few days that Hamilton was joining his coaching staff and other reports said that he was expected to depart, so this doesn’t come as a big surprise.

Ian Rapoport previously reported that the Browns preferred Hamiton to remain on their staff, but he likes coaching the college game.

Hamilton previously worked with Harbaugh while at Stanford before taking over as the Colts’ offensive coordinator in 2013. Indianapolis elected to fire him during the season last year but he was later hired by Hue Jackson after he accepted the Browns’ job.

In 2016, the Browns offense ranked No. 30 in total yards, No. 28 in passing yards, No. 19 in rushing yards and No. 31 in points scored.
