According to Tom Pelissero, the Browns will interview Patriots director of college scouting Monti Ossenfort for their open general manager job on Friday.
Pelissero says this is Ossenfort’s first GM interview after the Patriots blocked him from interviewing with the Texans last year. His contract with New England ends after this year’s draft.
Cleveland has also interviewed Eagles VP of football operations Andrew Berry and Vikings assistant GM George Paton for the GM position.
Berry is widely considered the favorite to pair with new HC Kevin Stefanski, though it’s interesting Cleveland is still conducting interviews.
Ossenfort is entering his 14th year with the Patriots. He got his start in New England as an area scout before moving up the ranks to national scout and assistant director of college scouting. He was promoted to his current position in 2016.
We’ll have more on the Browns GM search as the news is available.
