Browns Down To Josh Allen Or Baker Mayfield At No. 1 Overall?

Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com, citing league sources, reports that the Browns could be down to either Josh Allen or Baker Mayfield at No. 1 overall.

According to Cabot, the Browns have given strong consideration to all of the four top quarterbacks in the draft — Allen, Mayfield, Sam Darnold and Josh Rosen — but it appears as though they’ve narrowed their choices to Allen or Mayfield based on what her sources have said.

In fact, sources tell Cabot that the Browns have “cooled” on Darnold, despite the fact that many believe he will be the first pick.

Others have reported that Cleveland is down to Allen and Mayfield in recent days, so this really could be something to watch on Thursday.

It’s worth mentioning that the Browns hired Scot McCloughan as a draft consultant and he’s on record saying that Mayfield was his top quarterback prospect this year.

However, it’s possible that this is a just a spokes screen and an attempt to get a team to trade up to either No. 1 or No. 4 overall for a quarterback.

We’ll have more regarding the Browns as the news is available.
