Browns Place QB Baker Mayfield On COVID-19 List

The Cleveland Browns announced Sunday that they’ve placed QB Baker Mayfield on the reserve/COVID-19 list.

The COVID-19 list was created this summer for a player who either tests positive for or who has been quarantined after having been in close contact with an infected person or persons.

Players will remain on the list until they are medically cleared to return.

We’ve seen other players including Matthew Stafford be placed on the COVID-19 list in recent weeks for coming into contact with someone who tested positive. The good news is that most end up being cleared in a few days.

Mayfield, 25, is a former No. 1 overall pick of the Browns back in 2018. He’s currently in the third year of his four-year, $32,816,604 contract that includes a $21,946,620 signing bonus.

The Browns will have a fifth-year option to pick up on Mayfield next year.

In 2020, Mayfield has appeared in eight games for the Browns and completed 61.4 percent of his passes for 1,514 yards, 15 touchdowns and seven interceptions. He has also rushed for 65 yards.
