The Cleveland Browns have announced the signing of veteran CB Aaron Berry on Monday.
News: Browns sign DB Aaron Berry
— Cleveland Browns (@Browns) June 2, 2014
Howard Balzer reported a few weeks ago that the Browns held a tryout for Berry, but most likely wanted to wait until after June 1 to bring anyone in.
Berry, 25, visited with the Browns back in March as well, so he has been on their radar. Â He was unfortunately placed on season-ending injured reserve after he suffered a torn ACL back in July of last year.
Before that, he spent his first two years in the league with the Lions. Â He appeared in 11 games for Detroit in 2012 and posted 31 tackles and a 11 pass defenses.
Cleveland does have a good deal of talent at the cornerback position, boasting Joe Haden, Justin Gilbert, Buster Skrine and recent draft pick Pierre Desir.  Berry would thus presumably fit as a special teams contributor.
