The Cleveland Browns announced Tuesday that they’ve signed FB Johnny Stanton to a futures contract for the 2020 season.
Here’s the updated list of Browns’ futures signings:

- LB Jermaine Grace
- CB Donnie Lewis Jr.
- LB Montrel Meander
- WR J’Mon Moore
- G Malcolm Pridgeon
- G Willie Wright
- DE Trevon Young
- FB Johnny Stanton
Futures deals are essentially camp invites that will give players the opportunity to compete for roster spots during offseason workouts and training camp.
Stanton, 25, wound up signing on with the Vikings as an undrafted free agent out of UNLV back in 2018. He agreed to a three-year, $1.71 million contract with Minnesota, but was waived with an injury designation during the preseason.
Stanton later reverted to the team’s injured reserve after clearing waivers, but was eventually cut loose last January. He later had a brief stint on the Vikings’ practice squad.
During his college career at UNLV, Stanton played quarterback and threw for 1,406 yards while completing 54.1 percent of his passes to go along with 10 touchdowns and eight interceptions over the course of two seasons. He also rushed for 327 yards and three touchdowns.
