Browns Worked Out WR Max McCaffrey

According to Adam Caplan, the Cleveland Browns brought in free agent WR Max McCaffrey for a workout on Tuesday.

McCaffrey, 24, wound up signing on with the Raiders as an undrafted free agent out of Duke back in May of 2016. He signed a three-year, $1.62 million contract with the Raiders before he was unfortunately among their roster cuts coming out of the preseason.

McCaffrey had brief stints with the Packers, Saints and Jaguars before returning to Green Bay last October and signing on to their practice squad. The 49ers would later sign him to their active roster and he finished out the year in San Francisco.

The 49ers waived McCaffrey with an injury designation and he later reverted to their injured reserve list before he was cut loose soon after.

He was suspended by the NFL after being waived by San Francisco for four games due to an undisclosed violation of league rules.

McCaffrey also worked out for the Lions this week but left Detroit without a contract.

In 2017, McCaffrey appeared in five games and caught one pass for four years and no touchdowns.
