The Tampa Bay Buccaneers announced Wednesday that they’ve claimed OT William Poehls off of waivers from the Colts and placed three players on waivers including TE Donnie Ernsberger, S Orion Stewart (injured) and OT Riley Mayfield.
The Buccaneers also signed WR Matthew Eaton and TE Scott Orndoff to contracts.
Stewart will revert to the Buccaneers’ injured reserve list after clearing waivers. He, unfortunately, suffered a season-ending ACL tear.
Poehls, 27, originally signed on with the Titans as an undrafted free agent out of Montana back in 2014. He spent just over two years in Tennessee before being waived at the start of the 2016 season.
From there, Poehls had brief stints with the Bills, Bears, and Jaguars before signing a futures contract with the Colts this past January.
Poehls has ye to appear in an NFL game.
Stewart, 25, wound up signing a three-year, $1.66 million contract with the Broncos as an undrafted free agent out of Baylor back in 2017. He was later cut loose by the Broncos coming out of the preseason.
Stewart had brief stints with the Bills, Redskins and Giants before playing in the AAF earlier in the year. The Buccaneers later signed him to a one-year deal in April.
During his college career at Baylor, Stewart recorded 260 tackles, 6.5 tackles for a loss, two sacks, 12 interceptions with two of them being returned for touchdowns, a forced fumble, three recoveries and 14 pass defenses over the course of 46 games.
