Ian Rapoport tweets that the Buccaneers are expected to allow impending free DE Michael Bennett to test the open market in the coming weeks.
Jason La Canfora reports that team sources have informed him that they will not be using their franchise tag on any of their players, which further indicates that Bennett will likely field offers for other teams.
Now that the Bengals have franchised DE Michael Johnson, Bennett should find a very competitive market for his services.
Bennett was the more productive player of the two, according to Pro Football Focus’ ratings. We also have him listed as the No. 13 best available player in our Top 50 Free Agents list.
Mike Garafolo tweets that the Buccaneers could have interest in impending free agent QB David Carr.
Garafolo points to the fact that they were interested in Carr last year and have since added former Giants quarterbacks coach Mike Sullivan as their offensive coordinator.
The Bucs have said that they would like to bring in another quarterback at some point during the offseason, so this seems like a very plausible idea.
