Buccaneers Planning To Bring Jameis Winston Back As Starter In 2019

Adam Schefter reports that the Tampa Bay Buccaneers intend to bring back QB Jameis Winston as their starter for the 2019 season.

According to Schefter, the Buccaneers believe Winston is “the right man for the job and the right quarterback to get behind” moving forward.

Beyond that, Schefter says Tampa Bay doesn’t think they could find anyone who is better than Winston to serve as their starting quarterback.

Winston, 24, is a former first-round pick of the Buccaneers back in 2015. He’s set to make a base salary of $705,000 for the 2018 season and will earn $20.922 million for the 2019 season under his fifth-year option.

In 2018, Winston has appeared in 10 games for the Buccaneers and thrown for 2,647 yards while completing 64.7 percent of his passes to go along with 15 touchdowns and 13 interceptions. He has also rushed for 258 yards and a touchdown.
